Aleksej Besciokov, Russian Crypto Billionaire, Arrested in India
Aleksej Besciokov, the co-founder of Russian crypto exchange Garantex, has been arrested in India. The arrest follows European Union sanctions against Garantex for facilitating money laundering. Besciokov, a Lithuanian national, was detained in Kerala under India’s extradition law while vacationing with his family. He is set to be transferred to Delhi for further proceedings.
Turkey Introduces Stricter Regulations for Crypto Exchanges and Wallet Providers
The Turkish Capital Markets Board (CMB) has introduced new licensing and operational regulations for cryptocurrency exchanges, custodians, and wallet service providers. These regulations aim to tighten oversight and operational standards within the crypto sector. Under the new framework, crypto businesses must adhere to stricter reporting and transparency standards, including preparing numbered transaction forms detailing the type, quantity, and price of crypto assets, along with commissions and expenses. Customers will also receive monthly account statements with detailed information on all crypto transactions. The regulations went into effect on March 13.
